Design Development

I created ten designs for my final garment. My first design was inspired by a shape from the tiara from the crown jewels. I thought this shape looked like a basic skirt that a child would draw. I then developed the design to include sleeves and a V-neck. For another series of designs I was inspired by the shape of the diamonds in a ring. I used lots of volume in the skirt and sleeves, developing the design to include a collar of large discs that represented large gold coins. For my final design development I took my inspiration from the gold necklace from the V&A. I chose a small shape within the necklace, which I reflected in the hem and collar. I gradually added more volume to the design, adding netting and beading to represent the jewels.
