A task in our brief was to create an illustration for our final designs and relate it to our target market, which mine is high end highstreet.
I think my design and illustration relate to highend highstrret because it is a very simple design that most people would wear and it is also very classy and elegant. My dress caterers for occasion wear e.g. weddings, christenings and party's and is for women the age of 18-25.
When creating my illustration board I looked at other highstreet illustrations and also went out onto the highstreet myself and had a look what was in shop windows. The illustrations I looked at seamed very playful and fun and did not seam like they were trying to hard they also had real women modelling them not like couture models where they are stick thin.
I also have look at illustrations from highstreet designers and have realised that most of there work is done in inks or pencils as this is faster for them to use. I tried to incorporate this into my own illustration and I think it has been a success.

Making a headband
I have been thinking about my garments that will be going down the catwalk next week and have been thinking about accessories needed. I had an idea of creating a bow headband for my shirt dress I constructed this yesterday.
This will be what my model will be wearing on the runaway. My theme for the shirt dress is very summer elegance and will be bright fun.

Fittings for the Giles Deacon dress
This week is now fittings week so we have all been fitting our garments onto our models. Yesterday I had my Giles Deacon dress fitted and it went pretty well however the shoulder seam had to be altered as it was too big and also I noticed there was a hole at the waist so i have now constructed a flower to go over the top.
I have also chosen the shoes my model is going to be wearing and still need to think about the accessories I need.

New ideas
I have been thinking about my garment and have thought about skipping the whole felt crochet and swapping it for a crochet made out of silk organza because it would be a lot faster and it also looked a lot more classier with my dress and fitted better with the colour scheme.
I have chosen a gold colour for the crochet and for the underskirt a brown colour.

adjustments of my garment
When I was manufacturing my garment I had a slight problem with the tension on my sewing machine and when fitting the zip it wouldn't sew probably.
Also when I had finished manufacturing one of the skirt panels was longer than the others.
I will be sorting these out after fittings week.

Garment Made
I have finished manufacturing my garment and this week is fittings week so I will probaby have to tweak my garment slightly.
I still need to do add the facings onto it and create the underskirt but I am pretty happy with the design and shape it is very classic and elegant. I also need to purchase any accessories and shoes that I may need for the fashion show.

Starting my final garment
I have started manufacturing for my final garment and has to be completed by Friday, so I better get a move on.
This is the front skirt which I have now sewn together and pressed the seams open. The skirt is going to have lots of volume and will be very big.
This is the bodice, the neck will be lower at the back and will be a round neck.
On these pictures I have sewn the bodice together and the top half id now coming together.
I cant wait to show you all the final piece.
