Alexander McQueen Highland Rape

I have been researching visionary  designers to give me inspiration for my final design. The first designer I have researched is Alexander McQueen. I was particularly inspired by his Highland Rape collection, because, in this picture, for instance I like the use of the lace. To me it looks like it has been spray painted, similar to the spray paint use in his Spring/Summer collection in 1999. The shape of the dress is very simple, but the way it has been embellished is very  unusual. The colours remind me of the autumn colours on the bodice, moving down through the dress to the colours of spring. The lace has been used effectively by being cut away in places to expose the skin as though the model has been raped, just as the highland has been raped.
